Viettel and Singtel sign MoU on subsea cable

Viettel Business Solutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singtel to collaborate on deploying the first subsea cable directly connecting Vietnam and Singapore.
The Vietnam-Singapore Cable System (VTS) will be designed with eight fibre pairs using advanced WDM technology. When the cable becomes operational in the second quarter of 2027, it will add hundreds of Tbps to Viettel's total international connectivity capacity.

At the beginning of 2024, HSPnet launched high-capacity services of up to 6Tbps on its B3JS (Jakarta-Bangka-Bintan-Batam-Singapore) and BDMCS (Batam-Dumai-Medan) cable systems.
The transmission routes, totaling around 2,000km across both underwater and land cables, are supported by Ciena's WaveLogic Ai-powered 6500 platform.

Mark brings a wealth of experience in the satellite communications sector, having held positions with GEO, MEO and LEO satellite operators in various capacities including executive, non-executive, advisor, and co-founder. He has been associated with satellite and space development projects in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched an experimental licence module that will allow its established 5G labs across India to test 5G use cases.
The DoT has set up 5G use case labs within 100 institutes across the country with the objective to build competencies and engagement in 5G technologies for students and startup communities. The experimental licence from the DoT will enable those labs to use 5G spectrum bands to test whatever use cases they come up with without interfering with commercial 5G services.
